I agree this book is _very_ important in that it gives voice to the unheard in a full throated and unprecedented manner. At the same time I feel there needs to be a content warning for this book. In the age of Black Lives Matter many Black people have expressly pointed out that they have a hard time seeing harm done to Black bodies, and Black people. This book has _extreme_ descriptions of harm done to Black people by prison authorities. Readers need to be aware.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, readers unfamiliar with the inherent and vicious violence of prisons should be aware that Tip of the Spear unflinchingly documents this violence while offering an analysis that points us toward why we must continue to resist and teaches us through the example of those who have done just that.

However, what I believe your comment references is a valid critique that images of Black bodies are and have been used as clickbait or to increase views, which is a distinct and separate issue. Just as when domestic terrorists lynched Black people and sold their body parts as souvenirs, historically, America has profited from violence.

To the extent readers should be warned about violence, we also offer a differentiation in what readers will encounter in Tip of the Spear versus, for instance, watching extrajudicial killings of unarmed Black people on television or social media in a loop bereft of context and calls to resist.
